WHAT IS IT

Dermal filler is a soft gel product composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient found naturally in our body as a carbohydrate, thereby making hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers very safe, effective, and compatible with our bodies. Hyaluronic acid is a common ingredient in skincare creams; it binds with the water in our skin to help improve elasticity, smoothness, and volume.

HOW DOES DERMAL FILLER HELP

Dermal filler can restore to our face what we may have lost through the natural aging process; perhaps we were never born with sufficient capacity to reproduce our own naturally regenerative hyaluronic acid. Natural production of hyaluronic acid slowly diminishes with age. As collagen and elastin production slow down over time, skin loses more and more elasticity, culminating in a less youthful appearance. With dermal filler, we can smooth lines and diminish wrinkles, add facial fullness or volume, correct imperfections, and rehydrate skin resulting in a refreshed and restored youthful look to the face.

We use both the REVANESSE® and BELOTERO® range of advanced hyaluronic acid fillers which are produced in Canada. These fillers commonly last 4 to 12 months, depending on which area is being treated, what type of product is used, and how much was injected at the time of treatment. We have chosen to use REVANESSE® and BELOTERO® because of their unique technologies to create cosmetic fillers which can be injected easily, feel natural, do not break down quickly, and are produced in Canada.

WILL I LOOK FAKE OR OVERDONE?

Not at all. After a thorough, patient-focused consultation we will provide you with a specific treatment plan based on your specific areas of concern. During the consultation we examine your skin tone, areas of concern, and facial movements to ensure we give you the desired refreshed and youthful outcome. Our goal is for you to still look like you, but to restore radiance and youthful elasticity to the skin. We strive to treat everyone individually and to work with you to achieve your goals. Every face is unique and should be treated accordingly.

NUMBER OF TREATMENTS?

Multiple treatments may be required depending on the area of the face treated. Repeated injections will help to maintain treatment results over time.

DOWNTIME

This treatment requires 30 to 45 minutes; most likely you will resume normal activities at the end of the appointment. As with any needle injection, it is common to have mild pinkness and slight swelling at the site of the injections. They will subside within minutes to a few hours following treatment. Bruising at the injection site can occur, as much as we try to avoid it. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity, extensive sun or heat exposure, aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and alcoholic beverages for approximately 48 hours before treatment and 24 hours following treatment.
